Marketing is one of the most important contributors to business growth. Video content is proven to be one of the most popular and well-liked forms of media among people. But marketing with video can be costly, especially for non-profits. We are here to offer you some video marketing tips which will help you save money yet also move your non-profit forward.

3 Ways To Save Money On Your Video Content

Batch Video Production

Here’s a scenario, You want to do a 10 minute weekly show for your YouTube channel. You schedule an hour every Monday, hire a video production team (or keep it in house) to come out and work out next week’s message.

It’s not a bad plan, but here’s what you’ll find out:

Even if an hour is enough (it’s probably not), you’re hiring a team or diverting your internal team every week to produce one video. Just one.

Here what I would suggest:

  • Set aside a day once a month (or even once a quarter).
  • Prepare your messages for the entire month.
  • Bring some changes of clothes.
  • Shoot one video.
  • Change clothes.
  • Shoot another video.
  • Repeat until done.

With this method we have been able to get as many as 16 episodes shot in one day. This saved one of our clients an estimated $46,400 over having us come out every week as well as countless hours of their time and effort.

Repurposing Video Content

Now that we have a plan to make the most out of our clients’ production time and money, our next goal is to stretch out the content we produce. We may be shooting for a Youtube series but what if you also need website content, ad or social media videos as well? This starts with a plan.

In situations like this we work closely with our clients to create a content plan that allows us to double or triple up on footage from the same shoot to produce content for all needed channels in one shot.

If you plan from the beginning to repurpose your footage it becomes quite easy to do things like:

  • Grab extra shots during a shoot to be used for the sole purpose of short form content.
  • Notice great clips for social media  posting during the edit.
  • Much faster to adjust edits & preformatting deliveries for multiple platforms.
  • etc…
It takes A LOT of content to keep up with suggested social media posting schedules. If your not repurposing footage it would near impossible to keep up affordably.

How Frequently Should Nonprofits Post on Social Media?

Social media is an important tool for nonprofit organizations looking to spread awareness, engage their audiences, and solicit donations. But with so many social platforms available and the ever-changing algorithm schedules, it can be difficult to know when and how often you should be posting.

Post to Social Media Regularly
Consistency is key when posting to social media. It’s important to establish a regular posting schedule, so your followers know when to expect new content from you. This helps to keep your organization top-of-mind and encourages engagement with your posts. Many businesses suggest aiming for 3-4 posts per week on each platform that you use, but ultimately the amount should be based on the goals of your organization and the amount of content available.

Vary Your Video Content for Maximum Engagement
Incorporating videos into your content mix is a great way to capture the attention of your followers and keep them coming back for more. From inspiring stories about people you’ve helped, to in-depth guides about particular issues in the sector; there are plenty of types of video content that you can use to engage your target audience. Consider creating tutorials, interviews, backstage tours or even vlogs to add a personal touch.

Respond Quickly to Social Mentions and Messaging
To ensure that your audience feels connected to you and your cause, it’s important to respond quickly to any communications on your social channels. It takes just a few seconds for someone on your platform to tag, direct message or comment–making it imperative for nonprofits to stay on top of this conversation. If possible, employ a team member who can monitor messages in real time and reply promptly (within 24 hours) when needed. This will help build trust between you and their community, as people will see you are engaged with them.

How About A Picnic?

If you know me, you know I place a lot of value on testimonials. Having your current clients talk to your potential clients is very powerful. I suggest every business devote a healthy amount of resources to testimonials.

You could have them do it themselves on their cellphones, and that’s actually not a bad idea. This can be quite effective. However, if you want to up the production value it would usually involve sending a team all over the place to get your ideal clients to say nice things about your business. Sometimes this can involve multiple teams or multiple production days.

If it sounds expensive, it’s because it can be quite expensive.

But what if there was a way to get your clients to come to one place, want to go there and make them even more eager to say nice things about you? Why not have all of this and save a boatload of time, effort and money too.

That’s where the BBQ comes in. It could be a company picnic, workshop, non-profit event or whatever you like. The point is to put on some sort of client appreciation event that your clients actually want to go to. Once they are there you can have your video crew in a corner somewhere ready to receive kind words from your ideal clients that have just happily had their bellies filled by you.

This is a great way to get a lot of testimonials in one swoop and have a much higher production value at a fraction of the costs.

Conclusion

I shared 3 with you today, but at One Song Studios our goal from the start was to bring high production value to small and medium sized businesses.
